The prolonged renovation of the Baliuag Market resulted to similar problems, being “matumal” as the most common one, to the vendors in the area. To gain more perspectives about the issue, we have conducted a survey to the officials designated in the marketplace of Baliuag. Among those are the traffic enforcers that keep the streets of the Baliuag marketplace unclogged and reduced of traffic to the best of their abilities, and the several market collectors and attendants who go stall-to-stall and collect the fee from the occupants.
The questions in this survey pertain to the experiences of the officials in the area and their perspectives regarding the surrounding system and traffic conditions of the area. Many of their responses contain information of the plans to alleviate the traffic conditions, most of which will be achieved after the marketplace has been renovated.
*Disclaimer: One of the
surveyors, Roi Jendrick C. Jacinto, has a relative that works as a market
collector in the Baliuag Marketplace. To avoid any conflict of interest, the
market interviewee in this survey features a different person than the relative,
to allow the survey to be as truthful and unbiased as possible. This was
achieved by conducting the interview in a different time frame that is
different from the time of the shift of the relative (The relative had an
afternoon shift, and the interview was conducted during the Night Market, which also makes him the only one possible to
conduct an interview at that time since he is the nearest to the area).*

The information regarding the trajectory of the market and its procedures has been clarified, as more concrete plans have been declared by the local officials regarding potential solutions of the main problem in the market, which is the traffic situation.
The traffic situation, as stated by one of the interviewees, depends on the time of day, where more congestion occurs during rush hours, whereas certain times of day, such as during the evenings and early mornings, mean lesser amounts of traffic.
One of the traffic supervisors also mentioned the plans and methods they employ to make sure operations in the market continue while the renovation is still ongoing, to ensure the economic growth is still being maintained.
