Santos - Midterm Exam

Santos, Jon Kairo MIDTERM IN CCJE Answer the following using 5-10 sentences 1.Using your own words, compare Citizen Journalism to Community journalism. -First things first, the main difference between Citizen Journalism and Community Journalism is professionalism. In Citizen Journalism, anyone can write or compose a story regardless of what background they have, so long as they are not trained professionally as journalists since their stories will be checked and edited by a professional. This form of journalism doesn't particularly follow any guidelines or ethical standards due to the lack of professional ethics as the practitioners of said form are not professionally trained journalists or people who don't have any kind of background in writing news. As for Community Journalism, this is a form of journalism that, just like what our professor said, is a way of immersing yourself in a particular community, to see and feel their experiences. This form of journalism is much more...

MIDTERM EXAMINATION - Jelmer C. Cabanza

Jelmer C. Cabanza Citizen and Community Journalism BAJ 2B Community Journalism and Citizen journalism are two different things. Community journalism is a collective effort of a certain group of people to find solutions in solving the problem they face on their own. The community knows what they need. It is also a way of tapping other people to be concerned on what other problems are even if it is not affecting them directly.  Citizen Journalism on the other hand is giving information to other people from a person. They are not journalists but trained to be journalists-like to gather information then convey it to another person.  They are in a community to help professional journalists find the news or whatever is happening in the community where they are in. Both of the two carry information to help other people to be informed, not just by the people who work in a professional news organization. They are the other  source of information that is, somewhat,...

MIDTERM EXAMINATION - DIONISIO, YANCE LYSHA M.

Yance Lysha M. Dionisio         April 12, 2024 BAJ - 2B         Citizen and Community Journalism Midterm Examination Using your own words, compare Citizen Journalism to Community Journalism. 5-10 sentences only. Based on my understanding, citizen journalism is more of people’s initiatives and efforts, more of people who experienced it first hand and on the ground, without experiences but they are aware of the reality of what’s happening within their community. It is the people, the ordinary ones, who gather their thoughts and make up their minds to inform others of what is needed to know of what is happening in certain areas that is covered within their communities. Community journalism on the other hand is journalists with experience, with expertise who go down to a certain area to observe and cover what’s happening in there, what issues they are facing and reporting it and documenting it in order for ordinary peo...

MIDTERM EXAMINATION || Agustin, Louisse Althea V.

COMMUNITY JOURNALISM VS CITIZEN JOURNALISM While community and citizen journalism might seem no different from one another, it is with certainty that both terms or fields are far way similar. Citizen journalism on its own usually requires the presence of ordinary citizens that are not related in the field of journalism in the news making process. Though there is a need for professional journalists to act in the later part of the process, citizens are given more importance in this field. Here, they are the acting journalists, and the actual professional journalists are merely the verifiers of the information presented by the citizens. In contrary, in community journalism, the journalists are the journalists. Citizens are solely present as members of a certain community which professional journalists will engage into for a quite amount of time—unlike the former that can be made after a short while—and will get to live the experiences of these people in hopes to get a news story...

It is disseminated through mainstream channels such as TV, radio, daily papers, online news, and local news. To sum it up, in journalism, these two are way different in approach, scope, practices, and standards of what is considered "news,” but they both play an important role in disseminating information to society.  2. CITIZEN AND COMMUNITY JOURNALISM MIDTERM EXAM | Dela Cruz, Azriel Gilson DC.

CITIZEN JOURNALISM vs COMMUNITY JOURNALISM Community journalism and citizen journalism are usually miscontrued as the same, since it shows commonality in a way that both tell stories by gathering information from the ground. However, they are significantly different with each other base on the approach. Community journalism is done by professional or the said media practitioners as they are equipped to go down the community, and use their power to connect with people. They tend to devote themselves in reaching people to develop relevant stories that could be beneficial not just for a particular community but with the whole nation; helping people to voice out their calls regarding social problems or with any concerning matter. Meanwhile, citizen journalism is more of a freelancing, meaning anyone can do this thing.
