1. Using your own words, compare Citizen Journalism to Community journalism.
Citizen and Community Journalism, yes, the two words have a connection with each other but they have differences. In my opinion, words and comparison, community journalism is where the local news came. The job of a Community Journalist is to keep the community informed about the happening inside that particular community. The main purpose of community journalism is to give the people inside the community, neighborhood, or anything local to have the information they need to know.
2. Social Issues in the Philippines that can be addressed by Community Journalism
Citizen Journalism is where the public is involved. Normal citizens can also be citizen journalists, how? By simply capturing things that happened or happening in the local areas then they will post it online to share with the public. I think the most recent issue we are facing right now is the heat index. As a community journalist, we can show others how this particular community is facing troubles regarding the heat index, for example, the percentage of locals who experienced heat stroke or what are the challenges they face with the hot weather. Not just challenges in health but also the problems with finances due to heat, it can also be the challenges they are facing in their business due to heat. Community journalists can also be an eye-opener. Some issues may have been neglected because only a few are experiencing it but still happening. With the help of community journalists as well, we can share solutions in facing hot weather, hot weather is inevitable. In finding a solution, we, community journalists can ask authorities what the citizens should do in this time of hot weather. And also we can ask citizens what are their proposed solutions, if any.
