Citizen journalism is a type of journalism in which individuals themselves collect, report, and disseminate news that does not require professional training to be one. Typically done through social media platforms.

Community journalism is a type of journalism in which professional journalists collect and disseminate news that is more centered on communities, and their news is based on conventional news coverage that complies with press ethics and media law. It is disseminated through mainstream channels such as TV, radio, daily papers, online news, and local news.

To sum it up, in journalism, these two are way different in approach, scope, practices, and standards of what is considered "news,” but they both play an important role in disseminating information to society.

The existence of the “Universal Access to Quality Tertiary Education Act" for free education in the Philippines is still vague.

A report by Philstar Global shows that “in 2022, according to the PSA study, 18.6 percent of Filipinos aged five to 24 did not attend school. This translates into about 7.85 million children and youths, the PSA said.”

There are many factors that cause Filipinos to stay out of school, such as employment, marriage, lack of interest, and financial challenges. There are different reasons, but they all stem from one cause: the high cost of education, which prevented them from losing their desire to pursue finishing their education. It is easy to say that “education is already free, why don't you finish your education yet? "from the perspective of those who are privileged enough to afford the expenses associated with education but are blind to the struggle of those who want to finish their education, yet the opportunity seems elusive for them.

If given a chance to pursue something like this, I would frame it in such a way that I would interview those out-of-school youth and out-of-school children and ask them what they think the government might be missing in implementing the “Universal Access to Quality Tertiary Education Act” that they themselves can't go back to school. Specifically, I would explore how financial constraints impact their ability to pursue higher education, even with free tuition available. Additionally, I would ask about potential initiatives to enhance completion rates among enrolled students.

Again, there are many factors to consider when thinking about those who cannot afford to go to school despite opportunities like free tuition, scholarships, and part-time jobs. The world is not a straightforward path, and overcoming these challenges is not as easy as it may seem. Well, when all is said and done, life happens, and individual circumstances vary greatly.
