Taking a look at Barangay Tabing-Ilog residence: A survey aiming to identify social issues at the barangay
The primary goal of the conducted survey is to specify the diverse point of view between residents of Barangay Tabing-Ilog Marilao, Bulacan. There were variants of issues faced by the community but one stood up; Flooding. Which was caused by poor river management. Flood issues being the primary complaint of the residents makes for an ironic and an over literal issue since they live in ‘Tabing-Ilog’ which literally and really means they live beside a river—the Marilao River, which is renowned for being the sixth most polluted river in the world.
Questionnaire:
What’s your name, age and how long have you been living in this residence?
Ano ang iyong pangalan, edad at gaano ka na katagal nakatira sa barangay na ito?
What have you observed around your community? Whether it be a social issue or natural issues?
Ano ang iyong mga napansin sa iyong komunidad? Ito’y ma’pa isyung panlipunan o natural na isyu?
Survey Response
In conclusion the conducted research pinned a central issue which is flooding. Despite years of the local government’s efforts to clean up and control the flooding in the Marilao River, all failed long term. Our goal is to dig deeper with the flooding in the barangay of Tabing-Ilog. As we went around the neighborhood lining the river we observed that there are a lot of factors that may affect the flooding aside from the actual river itself and the roads.
