Midterm Exam CCJ
1.Using your own words, compare Citizen Journalism to Community Journalism.
There is a big difference between the Community Journalism and Citizen Journalism. In my own words and understanding, Community Journalism is the issue and problem of the community that is addressed by a citizen journalism. Community Journalism is a community that is involved in a particular issue. While Citizen Journalism is the one that is involved on writing the news about the community. The role of Citizen Journalist is to provide news and information that could be a help to their community.
2. Which social issues in the in the Philippines can be address by Community Journalism?
I believe that if there is a social issue in the Philippines that can be address by community journalism is the issue of the New Manila International Airport that is located at Bulakan, Bulacan. One issue is that because of the ongoing construction of the airport, some parts of Bulakan is struggling because of floods that was made by the construction. This issue could be address by community journalism by covering the daily struggle of people living in Bulakan because they are the one who could express what they feel about the issue because they are the one who lives in that situation. Traditional journalism can cover the story but they can not cover a hundred percent of the struggle of every people living in that community. This issue could use the community journalism to get the help that they need, to address the problem so that it could help them to reach other people outside the community to give them knowledge about the other side of the New Manila International Airport
